I think all hard discs are pretty much the same, so it doesn't really matter
that much... although I've had bad experiences with Seagate drives - they
tend to fail without warning after a couple of years...

Usual thing, IDE drives are slower, but cheaper than SCSI, but using either
as removeable drives is equally possible. If you have IDE drives in your
machine already, stick with IDE, otherwise you'll need to buy an extra SCSI
controller card. If you're installing SCSI though, you might as well buy a
DDS4 drive and some DAT tapes... smaller, and probably more robust... takes
about 5-10 minutes per GB to copy though, and you only get 24GB per tape.

Interesting copyright issues regarding backups (technically)... while it's
ok for you to backup your data files that you've created (and calling
electronic copies of your music your data files is a rather grey and
debateable area, since their creation without propper permission (making an
electronic copy) is a breach of copyright (although I guess that's what MCPS
and PRS is for)), you're not supposed to back up your applications - that's
what you have install CDs for (since most end user licenses prohibit you
from making copies of the software). Just thought I'd throw that in so you
can all shout me down and call me an idiot, but I doubt you'll find I'm
wrong...

Don't know anything about caddies... (j/k)
